Salt Scan ("the app") is a native iOS app that shows the salt and sodium in food products. This policy explains what the app does with data. The short version: Salt Scan has no account, no analytics and no ads, and it keeps your scans and journal on your device.
Your scan history and favorites, your daily journal (each portion you add), your daily goal, your unit and appearance settings, and your onboarding answer are stored only on your device, in the app's own storage (SwiftData and UserDefaults). Deleting the app removes them from the device.
world.openfoodfacts.org to get the product's data. When you search by name, the text you type is sent to the same service. Product photos are loaded from the image address given in the product data. Open Food Facts is an open database run by volunteers; see its own privacy policy. The camera is used only to read product barcodes. No image is stored or sent. You can turn camera access off in your device's Settings; you can still search products by name.
Off by default. If you turn on "Save to Apple Health" in Settings, Salt Scan writes the dietary sodium of each journal portion to the Health app on your device, updates it when you edit a portion and removes it when you delete one. Salt Scan only writes to Health: it never reads your Health data, and none of it is sent to the developer or to anyone else. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, or in the Health app.
Settings › Contact us opens the iOS mail composer, addressed to trabelsiachraf.devapps@gmail.com. The message, including the reason and the feedback choice you select, is sent from your own mail account, and only if you send it.
At times, after a few successful scans or your first journal entry, the app asks the system to show Apple's rating dialog. Apple handles the dialog and decides whether it appears; Salt Scan receives nothing back.
Salt Scan does not knowingly collect any data from children or anyone else.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated "Last updated" date.
